Ukrainian Armed Forces repel 31 attacks in Avdiivka direction in one day – General Staff

Russian attacks on Ukraine

Russia launched 32 air strikes and 37 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline update

Over the last day, 59 combat clashes took place. The situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Russia launched air strikes near 4 settlements in the Kharkiv region. Over 35 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops did not conduct any assault actions. They launched air strikes near 8 settlements in the Kharkiv region. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repulsed 3 attacks near Terny, Donetsk region, where Russian troops tried to break through Ukraine’s defense. About 15 settlements suffered from artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks near Bohdanivka and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region, where Russian troops unsuccessfully tried to improve their tactical position. Over 10 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 21 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and 10 attacks near Tonenke, Sieverne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Russian troops, backed by aviation, made attempts to breach the defenses of Ukrainian forces. More than 15 settlements were subjected to Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian troops keep holding back the Russian army near Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Despite five attempts, Russian forces, supported by aviation, were unable to alter the tactical situation. Russian artillery and mortar fire targeted six settlements.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russians did not launch any offensives. They carried out an air strike near Staromayorske, Donetsk region. About 10 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian defenders rebuffed 2 attacks north of Pryiutne and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region, where Russian troops tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops to no avail. They launched artillery and mortar attacks on 30 Ukrainian settlements.

In the Kherson direction, Russia persists in attempting to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Two unsuccessful attempts to storm Ukrainian troop positions were made during the day. The city of Kherson, along with three more settlements, endured Russian artillery and mortar fire. Furthermore, Russian troops targeted settlements in the Kherson region with MLRS.

Attacks by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russian positions

During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 5 concentrations of Russian personnel.

  • There were 66 combat clashes between Russian troops and Ukrainian defenders at the front yesterday. In total, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 52 attacks and eliminated another 810 Russian soldiers.
