Ukraine’s top commander visits Sumy brigades thwarting Russia’s border offensive
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi visited military in the Sumy region that are holding back attacks by Russian troops and repelling attempts to seize border territories. He discussed the strengthening of the combat capabilities of Ukrainian forces in the region
He reported this on Facebook.
"Intense fighting continues in the Sumy region in areas near the state border, as well as on the territory of the Russian Federation. Following orders from their leadership, Russian troops are trying to drive us out of the Kursk region and seize the border territories of the Sumy region," Oleksandr Syrskyi noted.
However, the implementation of the aggressor's plan is being thwarted by units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, whose active actions have once again disrupted the enemy's offensive in this direction, Syrskyi added.
"I planned my work specifically in this direction in order to thoroughly understand the situation in the brigades defending there, to assist commanders in organizing combat operations, and to resolve problematic issues," he reported.
According to him, shortly before Easter, he met with and listened to the commanders, key staff officers of the brigades, and heads of military branches, and on the spot made all necessary decisions regarding the provision of combat operations and the replenishment of material and technical supplies and ammunition.
At the same time, he discussed with the commanders the prospects for development and further strengthening of the combat capabilities of Ukrainian troops, the introduction of modern technologies, and the increase of the drone component in brigades of all types.
"Only by outpacing the enemy in the use of high-tech types of weapons, increasing the quantity and quality of robotic platforms and remotely controlled modules, and introducing artificial intelligence into weaponry will we be able to effectively destroy the numerically superior enemy forces," the army chief emphasized.
- The Russian army has intensified the use of various types of drones for attacks in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions, which border the Russian Federation.
