Ukraine to keep mobilization in place for some time after ceasefire

Colonel Pavlo Palisa, deputy head of the President's Office, says the nationwide mobilization won’t be lifted right away after a ceasefire — it will remain in effect for some time

He said this in an interview with Suspilne.

“Even if a ceasefire is declared tomorrow, mobilization will not end. For some time this process will still continue, because no matter how much we may want otherwise, we must maintain the readiness of the Armed Forces to carry out priority tasks at the proper level,” he noted.

The deputy head of the President's Office added that the current size of the Ukrainian military is about 800,000 people.

  • The Verkhovna Rada has registered a bill to limit the right to deferment for college students who began their studies after the age of 25, as well as for students who exceeded the length of their academic program.
