Ukraine ramps up arms production, now meeting 40% of military needs — FM Sybiha
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha says that Ukraine has scaled up its weapons production and can now cover about 40% of the Armed Forces’ needs for weapons
He said this at a press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, broadcast by Suspilne.
"Ukraine must become more and more self-sufficient. We must develop our defense industry and we have achievements — Ukraine is a leader in drone technologies. We have increased our production by orders of magnitude — in some cases by 35 times, we have scaled up the production of weapons for our defense needs. We can cover about 40% of the needs for our army," Sybiha informed.
According to the minister, the Ukrainian defense industry produces both NATO-standard artillery shells and artillery systems.
"We need additional support for the production of additional types of weapons in Ukraine. We should not be dependent on any country regarding certain types of weapons: we have military experience, strong schools, and we have relevant specialists," said the Foreign Affairs Minister.
- Work on scaling up unmanned systems units in Ukraine is yielding real results. In May, drones of various types struck and destroyed over 89,000 Russian targets, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi said.
