Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine is now producing around 1,000 interceptor drones daily to counter Russian attacks, but doesn't have enough mobile fire teams to operate them all

He told this to journalists.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia has not yet achieved its stated goal of using up to one thousand strike drones per day. While Russia declared such plans last year, they actually used an average of 200–250 drones per day, and now this figure has increased to approximately 350. At the same time, according to the president's assessment, at least two interceptor drones are needed to effectively counter one Shahed drone.

The president emphasized that Ukraine cannot currently rely on help from the Coalition of the Willing in countering drone attacks, since their role as security guarantors is only possible after the war ends and a ceasefire is achieved. While hostilities continue and Russia keeps up its shelling, Ukraine relies exclusively on bilateral partnership agreements.

"We can only count on those partners who are already strengthening us financially and investing in our domestic production," Zelenskyy noted.

He added that the issue of increasing capabilities for deploying interceptor drones is known to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, and has also been assigned as a task to the new head of the Defense Ministry, Mykhailo Fedorov.

  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on January 20 that U.S. President Donald Trump invited him to the Peace Council regarding Gaza.
