Ukraine approves over 120 new weapons systems for military use in one month
In April, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces over 120 new types of weapons and military equipment. Over 85% of them are domestically produced
Deputy Defense Minister Valerii Churkin stated this, according to the ministry’s press service.
Since the beginning of 2025, more than 400 new types of weapons and military equipment have been codified in Ukraine. In April, the majority among them were unmanned aerial systems, their munitions, electronic warfare equipment, vehicles, communications equipment, and ground robotic systems.
The Defense Ministry noted that the appearance of more than 40 fiber-optic drones, which have already been approved for use, is particularly important.
Deputy Defense Minister Valerii Churkin emphasized that the current arsenal is still insufficient, so it is necessary to respond to threats more quickly, develop technological weaponry, and massively deploy unmanned systems on the front lines.
“What we have in our arsenal today is not enough. We must respond to challenges faster and invest more in technological weaponry. Every strongpoint must be maximally reinforced with unmanned systems,” he said.
- In April, it was reported that last year Ukraine's Defense Ministry approved for use more than four times as many UAV models as in 2023.
