Ukraine approves new infantry weapon systems for military use
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has codified and approved for use in Defense Forces units a number of devices and tools designed to improve the usability of small arms and grenade launchers
The Defense Ministry reported the information.
Specifically, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been approved to use a tripod-mortar for the Mk 19 40mm automatic grenade launcher, a small infantry tripod for the Browning M2 heavy machine gun, a universal mounting cradle, and a stand for installation in pickup truck beds.
The tripod-mortar, developed by Ukrainian engineers, enables grenade launcher operators to fire on high-arcing trajectories from covered positions. The Defense Ministry noted that the device features a durable construction and adjustment screws that provide stability and smooth vertical and horizontal aiming control.
The small infantry tripod is a domestic analogue of a foreign-made original tripod for heavy machine guns. It is easy to deploy and install in a fixed position. Additionally, with extra adapters, it can be used with a wide range of machine guns and grenade launchers.
The universal mounting cradle is designed to optimize weapon installation on infantry tripods, vehicles, watercraft, armored vehicles, ground robotic platforms, or automated turrets. When used with a heavy machine gun, the design helps reduce recoil during firing.
The universal stand is intended for equipping pickup trucks with heavy machine guns. The design features an offset mount center to compensate for the weapon’s length, ensuring the gunner is comfortably positioned in the truck bed and allowing for operation along two axes of rotation.
