Trump invites Putin to join Peace Council, Kremlin spokesman says
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has received an invitation from the U.S. to join the Gaza Peace Council
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated this, according to Russian state propaganda agency TASS.
According to Peskov, Vladimir Putin received the invitation and the Kremlin is now "studying all the details of this proposal." The dictator's spokesman said they are expecting further contact with the U.S.
However, Washington has not yet reported on Putin's invitation to the Gaza Peace Council.
What is known about Trump's Peace Council
On January 16, American leader Donald Trump announced the creation of a Peace Council to handle post-war governance of the Gaza Strip, as well as the transition to the next stage of a 20-point peace plan for the region.
Its members include U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's special representative Steve Witkoff, U.S. President's son-in-law Jared Kushner, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, American billionaire and CEO of investment company Apollo Global Management Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor Robert Gabriel.
The White House also announced that additional members of the executive council and Gaza executive council will be announced in the coming weeks.
The U.S. is also discussing the idea of creating a separate Peace Council to resolve the war in Ukraine, modeled after the body overseeing the ceasefire in Gaza.
