Trump confirms deployment of U.S. nuclear submarines after Medvedev’s threats
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that two American nuclear submarines were moved to "the region where they have to be" in response to threats from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
He made this statement while in Bedminster, New Jersey.
When asked by a journalist whether the deployment of the submarines was a direct response to Russian threats, Trump replied that they are "where they have to be."
“They are in the region, yeah, where they have to be,” the U.S. leader emphasized.
Kremlin responds
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov urged Trump to be cautious with nuclear rhetoric.
“In this case, it’s clear that American submarines are on combat patrol—this is a routine process, first of all. But generally, we don’t want to be drawn into such exchanges or comment on them,” Peskov stated. “We take any statements involving nuclear issues very seriously. Russia is firmly committed to nuclear non-proliferation, and we believe everyone should be extremely careful with nuclear rhetoric.”
Zelenskyy aide response
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak commented on the situation, stressing the effectiveness of the "peace through strength" principle.
“The concept of ‘peace through strength’ works. As soon as the American nuclear submarines appeared, one Russian drunk who had promised nuclear war on his X page fell silent. Russia understands only strength,” he emphasized.
