There are grounds to halt Russian troops near Pokrovsk – military expert
In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian troops are attempting to leverage their superiority in manpower and equipment, according to Serhiy Zgurets, military expert and CEO of the Defense Express media and consulting company
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“The intensity of the enemy's actions along the entire frontline has increased significantly. According to the (Ukrainian - ed.) General Staff, 215 combat clashes took place yesterday, which is the peak figure since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion. The lion's share, up to 60 clashes, occurred in the Pokrovsk sector, where the enemy is concentrating maximum efforts to advance towards Pokrovsk and make movements to the south to pose a threat to our group holding the line,” noted Zgurets.
According to the military expert, Russian forces are trying to maximize their advantage in manpower and equipment and advance further.
“However, we should avoid using the phrase ‘the front is crumbling.’ Such statements from individual military officers or experts are gaining traction, and the phrase ‘the front is crumbling’ is starting to shape perceptions of reality. In fact, the true perception of the situation should be that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line across all front areas. Where the enemy is making advances, it’s not a collapse of the front but a pushback of our defenses due to the enemy's superior forces. Even in challenging areas like the Pokrovsk sector, there are still opportunities to counter the enemy's advance,” Zgurets explained.
The military expert also added that Russian troops are beginning to discuss the possibility of a trap being set for the Russian units currently attempting to break through to Pokrovsk.
“Therefore, we need to be more cautious about assessing the situation on the frontline, especially at a time when the enemy is trying to use pretexts for information and psychological pressure,” emphasized Zgurets.
