Russia’s record autumn draft may hide secret mobilization
The autumn draft in Russia effectively serves as a form of hidden mobilization — conscripts are turned into contract soldiers within a few months and sent to the front, while the Kremlin avoids openly declaring a general mobilization
Spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army Serhiy Bratchuk shared the information on Espreso TV.
“The autumn draft in Russia is a hidden mobilization. We understand that conscripts are under pressure, and it has been repeatedly noted that a person who enters the Russian army as a conscript can, within one or two months, become a contract soldier and already end up at the front. Such cases have been recorded across all sections of the front. That’s why I believe this is an instrument of hidden mobilization,” Bratchuk noted.
The spokesperson emphasized that at present, Putin refrains from announcing a general mobilization in Russia.
“Perhaps he considers this one of the elements threatening his own security. Putin needs this war because only in this way can he preserve his regime. He acts as all dictators do: start a war, keep fighting, and hold on to power. But, as we know, the vast majority of dictators end badly,” Bratchuk stressed.
- Political scientist Vadym Denysenko noted that information has emerged in Russia claiming the General Staff is demanding mobilization to strengthen efforts on the Ukrainian fronts. The Kremlin is now studying public reaction to a possible announcement of mobilization.
