Ukraine's downing of aircraft prevents Russia from using aviation in Kherson region — ISW
As of January 7, Ukrainian troops hold positions on the left bank of the Kherson region, but positional fighting continues near Krynky on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River
The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported the information.
Russia has said that the successful downing of a Russian aircraft by the Ukrainian military in December 2023 prevents Russia from deploying aviation in the Kherson region.
Also, Russian troops still face problems in the operational flow of information, communications, electronic warfare (EW) and unit interaction in Krynky and other areas on the eastern bank.
In particular, according to a Russian military blogger, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively mining Russian land lines of communication in the Kherson direction.
Ukrainian servicemen operating in the Krynky area stated that Russian troops regularly attack Ukrainian positions in small infantry groups of up to 10 soldiers and pointed to problems faced by the Ukrainian military on the left bank, such as the inability to evacuate fallen soldiers in time or the use of drones by Russians.
- On the evening of December 24, during a military operation, Ukrainian forces successfully destroyed a Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber in the Mariupol direction.
