Russian warship collides with tanker while "fleeing" Ukrainian drones
The small missile ship Vyshny Volochyok (Project 21631 Buyan-M) collided with a tanker on August 7 in the Sea of Azov while fleeing Ukrainian naval drones
Defense Express reported the information.
According to the outlet, the Russians tried to cover up the damage to the ship from this non-combat incident, but documents confirming the collision with a tanker have surfaced online.
The incident occurred in the Sea of Azov, in Temryuk Bay, on August 7. The Telegram channel VChK-OGPU published a maneuvering diagram of the small missile ship Vyshny Volochyok during its collision with the tanker Nazan.
Analysts noted that according to the leaked report, at 3:59 a.m., after detecting a group of likely Ukrainian drones in the sky, the ship was ordered to turn back to port via the port side.
Just six minutes later, at 4:05 a.m., Vyshny Volochyok collided with the tanker Nazan on its port side — an episode classified as a “ship-handling accident.”
The Defense Express analysts highlighted that the documents mention deformation of the hull and structural elements.
