
Russian officer behind Mariupol bombings killed by grenade blast in Stavropol
On the night of May 29, an explosion occurred in Stavropol, Russia. Local authorities reported the death of Zaur Gurtsiyev, deputy mayor and "veteran of the war in Ukraine"
RIA Novosti reported the information.
The outlet reported that a grenade exploded on Chekhov Street during the night. Two people died as a result, including Deputy Mayor Zaur Gurtsiyev.
Governor Vladimir Vladimirov stated that all versions are being considered, including possible Ukrainian involvement.
According to the News Agency, Gurtsiyev was in charge of the aerial part of the Russian operation in Mariupol. He introduced his own developments in missile guidance technology, which greatly increased their accuracy and effectiveness, and also struck the Azov base.
Note: Zaur Gurtsiyev participated in the Time of Heroes program, initiated by Vladimir Putin, which trained Russian soldiers in civil service and the "formation of a new elite" of Russia.
The deceased was involved in "terrorism and extremism prevention" in Stavropol.
He was also awarded an order for the occupation of Mariupol and Avdiivka; the Order of Merit for the Fatherland II Class with swords; the Order of Merit for the Fatherland I Class with swords; the Zhukov Medal; and the Suvorov Medal.
