Russian missile strike on Ukrainian training unit kills one, wounds 11
In the early hours of Tuesday, August 12, Russian forces launched a missile strike on the territory of one of the training units of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. One service member was killed and 11 others were wounded
The Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
According to the statement, personnel were alerted to the missile threat immediately after receiving the warning signal. Despite the safety measures taken, a group of soldiers came under fire from cluster munitions while moving to shelters.
As a result of the attack, one service member was killed, 11 sustained varying degrees of injuries, and another 12 sought medical help for acoustic trauma and acute stress.
Emergency services are working at the scene, and all necessary medical assistance is being promptly provided to the wounded.
“The Command of the Ukrainian Ground Forces extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the fallen soldier. To protect lives and health, work is ongoing to equip training centers, ranges, and other military facilities with reliable shelters. Additional safety measures are also being taken to protect personnel during enemy missile and air attacks,” the Ground Forces Command emphasized.
