Russia returns 1,003 bodies to Ukraine, claiming they are military personnel

On Friday, December 19, 1,003 bodies were returned to Ukraine as part of repatriation efforts, which, according to Russia, belong to Ukrainian military personnel

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported the information.

"Investigators from law enforcement agencies, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations and carry out identification of the repatriated bodies," the statement noted.

The repatriation efforts were jointly conducted by the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector.
