Russia plans to increase its army by 150,000 troops this year
The Russian army intends to increase its forces by 150,000 personnel in 2025, which is equivalent to 15 motorized rifle divisions
Deputy Head of the President’s Office Pavlo Palisa announced this during a meeting with journalists, as reported by Suspilne.
“Their formation process is ongoing. Currently, the Russians have no issues with recruiting personnel. However, it is important to understand that all these units cannot be deployed into battle simultaneously. Therefore, it is expected that in the near future, they will try to exert maximum pressure in areas where it is possible,” the official said.
According to him, Russia continues to intensify pressure on the front lines while consultations on a ceasefire are ongoing. At the same time, the invaders show little interest in negotiations, except in the maritime direction, where a truce is more important for them, Palisa noted.
On land, the Russian forces are trying to advance, breaking through certain sections of the front. According to the Deputy Head of the President’s Office, the Russians are achieving some tactical successes, but at the cost of significant losses.
“But if they can afford it, they will continue to drag things out. In some areas of the front, the enemy is having certain successes, but we are also counterattacking and achieving results,” said Palisa.
- On March 31, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed a decree under which 160,000 Russians will be conscripted into the Russian army during the spring draft.
