Russia loses cruise missile, 51 artillery systems and 960 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine — General Staff
Over the last day, 68 combat clashes took place in the frontline. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the largest number of attacks in the Marinka and Avdiivka directions. Meanwhile, Russian casualties among the troops exceeded 377,000
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to January 23, 2024, amounted to:

Frontline update: Russian forces concentrate in the Marinka direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces fend off 21 attacks there
Near the Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.
In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled an attack near Terny, Donetsk region, and 5 more attacks near Makiivka, Bilohorivka, and Serebryanka forestry, Luhansk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 7 attacks near Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukraine holds back the Russian invading forces, who keep trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukrainian Defense Forces repulsed 10 attacks near Stepove and Avdiivka and another 7 attacks near Pervomayske and Nevelske, Donetsk region.
In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders hold back Russian forces near Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, with 21 attacks repelled.
In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops did not conduct assault operations.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an attack near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces expand the bridgehead. Despite significant losses, Russian troops do not give up trying to drive Ukrainian units from their positions. Over the past day, Russia carried out one unsuccessful assault on the positions of Ukrainian troops.
At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers are actively inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces, depleting Russian troops along the entire front line.

In total, Russia launched 3 missile strikes and 65 air strikes, and 56 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Private houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
In the morning, Russian forces launched a missile attack with 4 S300/400 anti-aircraft guided missiles at the civilian infrastructure of the cities of Kharkiv and Balakliya, Kharkiv region.
Russia carried out air strikes targeting 23 settlements across Ukraine.
Over 140 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.
At the same time, Ukrainian aviation struck 8 Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment concentrations. Ukrainian air defense forces also destroyed one Kh-59 guided missile.
Ukrainian missile troops struck 1 Russian control center, 1 artillery unit and 1 radar station.
