Russia likely to resume tactical offensive in Donetsk region in coming weeks — UK intelligence
Russian troops may resume their tactical advance on the frontline in the Donetsk region in the coming weeks despite limited overall operational capabilities
The UK Ministry of Defense shared the information in a recent report.
As noted, in July of this year, Russian ground forces continued to launch continuous attacks in the central part of the Donetsk region. They steadily advanced to the west, taking control of several villages and approaching the logistics hub of Pokrovsk.
In addition, British intelligence emphasized that Russian ground troops have advanced north to the city of Niu York, which has been on the front line since 2014.
“It is likely that Russia will continue to make tactical advances in the coming weeks. However, its overall operational capability remains limited by several factors including a high attrition rate, limited training, and a shortage of officers,” the British Ministry of Defense suggests.
- As reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 149 combat clashes took place at the frontline over the past day. The situation remains the hottest in the Pokrovsk direction, Russia was also active in the Kurakhove and Toretsk directions.
