Russia attacks 22 times in Avdiivka, Novopavlivka directions in one day — General Staff

Russian attacks on Ukraine

Within the last day, 73 combat engagements took place. In total, Russia launched 2 missile attacks, 79 air strikes and 90 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline update

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Russia launched air strikes near 2 settlements in the Kharkiv region. Over 30 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian Defense forces repelled 2 attacks near Petropavlivka and Tabaivka, Kharkiv region, where Russian troops tried to drive them from their positions. Russian troops launched air strikes near a settlement in the Luhansk region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repulsed 11 attacks near Terny, Yampolivka Donetsk region, and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region, where Russian troops tried to break through Ukraine’s defense. About 10 settlements suffered from artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 2 attacks near Ivanivske and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region, where Russian troops unsuccessfully tried to improve their tactical position. They also launched air strikes near 2 settlements in the Donetsk region. Over 10 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 22 attacks near5 settlements in the Donetsk region. Russian troops launched air strikes near 6 settlements in the Donetsk region. About 20 settlements were subjected to Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops keep holding back the Russian army near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Despite 22 attempts, Russian forces, supported by aviation, were unable to alter the tactical situation. They also launched air strikes near 5 settlements in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Russian artillery and mortar fire targeted over 20 settlements.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders rebuffed an attack near Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region. Russian troops launched air strikes near 5 settlements and targeted with artillery and mortar attacks about 20 Ukrainian settlements.

In the Kherson direction, Russia persists in attempting to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Four unsuccessful attempts to storm Ukrainian troop positions were made during the day. About 10 settlements endured Russian artillery and mortar fire. 

Attacks by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russian positions

During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 10 concentrations of Russian personnel.

Also, the Ukrainian Air Force destroyed three Su-34 fighter-bombers.

Ukrainian missile troops struck 2 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, 3 BM-21 Grad MLRS, a ammunition depot, an electronic warfare system.

• Over February 28, 99 combat clashes took place on the frontline. Ukrainian defenders repelled attacks in 7 directions and eliminated 1,150 Russian soldiers.
