Rheinmetall ready to arm peacekeepers in Ukraine
The Rheinmetall concern is ready to offer its products to support an international peacekeeping mission after the full-scale war in Ukraine ends
Deutsche Welle (DW) reported the information, citing the head of the German company Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger.
During a press conference, Papperger noted that no concrete negotiations on supplying peacekeepers are currently underway. However, Rheinmetall could offer “over 2,000 items” of its products.
Several European countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, and Sweden, have previously declared their readiness to send peacekeepers to Ukraine. Meanwhile, the United States is currently engaged in negotiations with Russia and Ukraine regarding the conditions for ending the war.
As an example, the head of Rheinmetall mentioned the supply of a German tank brigade to Lithuania, whose deployment is expected to be completed by 2027.
According to him, the focus would primarily be on tanks and armored vehicles. Papperger emphasized that Rheinmetall is the largest manufacturer of military trucks.
He also mentioned electronic warfare (EW) equipment and reconnaissance drones produced by the company, which could be necessary for monitoring once a demarcation line is established. In this context, he also referenced reconnaissance satellites, in which Rheinmetall is currently investing.
