Putin’s envoy accuses Ukraine of breaking ceasefire on Fox News
Kremlin negotiator Kirill Dmitriev, who is currently visiting Washington, accused Ukraine of violating the energy ceasefire during a broadcast on American television
Dmitriev was invited for an interview by Fox News.
In the studio, Dmitriev praised the Trump administration for making “tremendous progress” in peace negotiations and criticized the Biden administration for not engaging with Russia.
“There were no attempts to understand the Russian position. There were no real solutions that could have succeeded. What President Trump’s team did — they understood the potential space for solutions, and they achieved the first-ever de-escalation in the conflict, which involved a halt to strikes on energy infrastructure between Russia and Ukraine,” said Putin’s envoy.
In response to the host’s remark that Russia continues to strike Ukrainian energy facilities despite the agreements, Dmitriev claimed that it is Ukraine that is violating the ceasefire.
“This is not being reported in the media. And of course, this has to stop. I believe that the ceasefire on energy infrastructure sites must be upheld,” the Russian negotiator said.
He added that the Trump team “not only prevented World War III, but also achieved significant progress toward resolving the Ukrainian crisis.”
- Dmitriev is in Washington for talks with the U.S. administration on establishing dialogue between the U.S. and Russia. For his visit, the United States lifted sanctions against him.
- Russian information resources are spreading fake reports about Ukraine striking energy facilities in Russia and Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine. The Ukrainian General Staff denied this information.
