Fires ravage Chasiv Yar amid Russian shelling - Ukraine's 24th Brigade
Ivan Petrychak, a spokesman for Ukraine's 24th Mechanized Brigade, says the situation in Chasiv Yar remains challenging
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The situation in our area of responsibility has not changed critically over the past week. Russian forces are still pressing from all sides and attempt to advance. Ukrainian defense forces are holding the front line. Russians persist in destroying civilian infrastructure, leveling Chasiv Yar with airstrikes and artillery, and attempting to storm the town with groups and infantry. The situation remains difficult," emphasized Petrychak.
According to the spokesperson, mornings lately begin with a thick plume of smoke over Chasiv Yar.
"The heat is drying out the grass, forests, and trees. Chaotic shelling by Russians sets fire to the grass and burns fields. Breathing is difficult, the heat affects our senses, but the most bothersome are the fires, which are very difficult to extinguish amid shelling," noted Petrychak.
- On July 17, 114 combat clashes took place at the front. Ukraine's army repelled most of the attacks in the Toretsk direction.
- The situation in Chasiv Yar, Donetsk region, remains tense. Russian forces continue their offensive, Ukrainian defenders repel the attacks.
