Medvedev claims Finland is preparing for war against Russia

Writing in a column for the Kremlin-controlled agency TASS, Medvedev claimed that after joining NATO, Helsinki “under the guise of defensive measures, is pursuing a confrontational course of preparing for war with Russia.”

According to him, “military activity is intensifying” and the North Atlantic Alliance “is fully involved in these matters and is now intensively developing all five operational environments of Suomi: land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace.”

In addition, Medvedev alleged that NATO is building a command structure for its advanced land forces near Russia’s borders in Lapland. He claimed that in the event of a “change in the operational situation,” the number of troops could be increased to a brigade of up to 5,000 personnel.

“New garrisons are appearing, for example, in the town of Ivalo, located 40 kilometers from Russian territory,” Medvedev said.
