Reuters reported the information.

According to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these attacks were aimed at destabilizing the country.

"Since 2021, this method of attack (MOA) has been used to target or compromise a dozen French organizations," the ministry's statement said.

The publication noted that although the GRU unit known as APT28, based in Rostov-on-Don, had previously been accused of cyberattacks by other Western countries, this is the first time that France, relying on its own intelligence data, has directly placed responsibility for cyber operations on the Russian Federation.

  • On April 22, the Dutch military intelligence agency MIVD stated that Russia is intensifying hybrid attacks aimed at destabilizing the situation in the Netherlands and European countries amid peace efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
