China supplying gunpowder, artillery to Russia — Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy shared this during a press briefing with the media, which was broadcast by Suspilne, amid discussions about an agreement with the United States.

“We have finally received information that China is supplying weapons to the Russian Federation. We will be ready to discuss this in detail. As of now, we have information from the Ukrainian Security Service and intelligence services regarding gunpowder and artillery. I think we will be able to provide more detailed information next week,” the president said.

Zelenskyy also noted that there is data indicating Chinese representatives are involved in manufacturing certain types of weapons on Russian territory.

• Two Chinese citizens who were fighting as part of the Russian army were captured by Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk direction. Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the Foreign Minister to urgently contact the Chinese authorities. The U.S. described the incident as concerning.
• On April 9, President Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian special services were aware of at least 155 Chinese citizens fighting in the Russian army.
• The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated they were unaware of this. Later, Beijing announced its intention to investigate and assess the actions of its citizens who were captured in Ukraine, in accordance with national law.
