Chasiv Yar remains under Ukrainian Armed Forces' control - Syrskyi
Russian forces aim to breach Donetsk's administrative border, with Bakhmut posing the toughest challenge. Chasiv Yar remains securely held by Ukrainian forces
Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reports.
According to him, the Russian forces are trying to achieve their goal of reaching the administrative border of Donetsk region using air superiority, missiles and artillery ammunition.
Russia continues to conduct offensives day and night, using assault groups supported by armored vehicles. In some areas, it tries to conduct assault operations on foot, in waves, from platoon to company, sometimes battalion.
Syrskyi noted that the situation was particularly difficult in the Bakhmut direction in the areas east of Chasiv Yar and Klishchiivka; in the Avdiivka direction - in the areas of Berdychi, Orlivka, Vodiane, Pervomayske; in the Novopavlivka direction - in the area of Novomykhailivka.
"The fiercest fighting is currently taking place in the areas of Pervomaiske and Vodiane, as well as east of Chasiv Yar. The Russian forces are trying to break through Ukrainian troops' defenses. Chasiv Yar remains under Ukrainian control, all the enemy's attempts to break through to the settlement have failed," emphasized the Ukrainian army chief.
The situation also remains tense in the Lyman, Orikhiv, and Kherson directions.
Thus, in the Lyman direction, the Russian forces are conducting local offensives in the areas of Bilohorivka and Vesele; in the Orikhiv direction, in the areas of Robotyne and Verbove to regain lost ground; in the Kherson direction, they are trying to force Ukrainian troops from the bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnipro River near Krynky.
"But there has been no success in these areas," Syrskyi said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have achieved some tactical success in the Kupyansk and Lyman directions.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces added that Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to steadfastly hold their lines and positions, exhausting the enemy and inflicting significant losses in personnel, weapons and military equipment.
- Over the day, 80 combat clashes took place at the front. In the Avdiivka sector, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions 22 times with the support of aviation.
