149 combat clashes occur in frontline over last day, 44 of them in Pokrovsk sector

This is stated in the General Staff's report as of 8:00 am.

According to the updated information, on August 23, the occupation forces launched three missile attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements using five missiles, as well as 74 air strikes, including 102 guided bombs. In addition, Russian forces carried out 4,074 attacks, including 138 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 1,249 'kamikaze' drones to attack.

Situation in the main frontline directions

In the Kharkiv direction, seven combat clashes took place in the vicinity of Lyptsi and Vovchansk over the past day.

In the Kupyansk direction, the number of combat clashes amounted to 20. Defense forces repelled Russia's attacks in the areas of Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Synkivka and Stelmakhivka.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 13 hostile attacks in the areas of 6 settlements.

In the Siverskyi direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces rebuffed seven attacks near Vyimka, Bilohorivka and Spirne.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 22 attempts of the invading troops to advance near Chasiv Yar, Kalynivka and Ivanivske. The situation is under control.

With the support of attack aircraft, the Russian troops tried to advance nine times in the Toretsk direction. They operated in the areas of Nelipivka and Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukraine's defenders repelled 44 attacks. The Russian units are trying to advance in the direction of Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Ptyche and Zelene Pole.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian enemy near 4 localities, where the occupiers tried to break through Ukrainian defenses 16 times.

In the Vremivka direction, the Russian army made 11 attempts to seize Ukrainian positions near Vodiane and Vuhledar in Donetsk region.

Over the past day, Russia did not conduct any offensive actions in the Orikhiv and Prydniprovskyi directions, but systematically conducts air strikes and shells civilian infrastructure of Ukrainian settlements.

The operational situation near the border with Belarus remains unchanged. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected.

On the border with Chernihiv region, the Russian forces maintain a military presence and conducts reconnaissance activities.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct operations in the Kursk direction.

Russian military losses

In total, the losses of Russian troops amounted to 1,160 people over the past day. Ukrainian soldiers also eliminated nine tanks, 21 armored combat vehicles, 42 artillery systems, two MLRS, three air defense systems, 39 operational and tactical UAVs, two cruise missiles, 54 vehicles and a unit of special equipment of the occupation forces.
