Military administration names main Russian target in Kharkiv region
The main goal of the Russian forces is currently to control Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi. The possibility of an offensive on Kharkiv should not be ruled out
The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
He noted that the Russian troops are trying to capture Synkivka and are advancing near Ivanivka and Petropavlivka.
"The capture of Synkivka will make it possible to move further and create the preconditions for blocking Kupyansk. But the main goal is Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi (a major railway junction - ed.). But to get there, they need to capture part of the city of Kupyansk. We understand these plans, and our Armed Forces understand these plans. That is why we are responding accordingly," said the head of the Military Administration.
At the same time, according to Syniehubov, a repeated attack on Kharkiv is also possible.
"Of course, we are aware of their intentions, they do exist. And we know that they will take into account the mistakes of last spring. But we have not stood still either technically or in terms of personnel during these two years of war. We are ready. We clearly understand that it is too early to relax," the official emphasized.
- According to the General Staff, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 Russian attacks in the Kupyansk direction in the vicinity of Synkivka, Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk region, where the Russian troops tried to break through the Ukrainian defense in vain. They launched air strikes in the areas of Petropavlivka and Kyslivka, Kharkiv region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire in Kharkiv region.
