Meeting on war crimes in Ukraine will be held in London in March
In March 2023, Ministers of Justice from across the world will meet in the capital of Great Britain to discuss war crimes, in particular committed by Russia in Ukraine
Sky News reports.
The meeting will take place at Lancaster House. It will be held by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Great Britain Dominic Raab together with his Dutch counterpart.
Main issue during the forum will be the investigation of Russia's alleged war crimes in Ukraine.
Participants will listen to Karim Khan, prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. He will inform about work of the court, as well as tell about the role of the international community in facilitating work of the court. Khan is currently investigating allegations of war crimes committed by Russian soldiers during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Raab noted that partner countries will continue to support Ukraine until justice is established. He noted that almost a year has passed since Russia's illegal full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and emphasized that the international community should provide the strongest support to the International Criminal Court to facilitate prosecution of war criminals.
"Russian forces must know they cannot act with impunity, and we will support Ukraine until justice is served," he said.
They emphasize that the meeting will allow partner countries to determine ways of providing further assistance to Ukraine. In particular, it will include provision of practical support, such as assistance in gathering information and sharing crime evidence.
