Massive explosion at plant near Moscow: at least 45 injured

The Russian propaganda news agency TASS clarified that the number of people injured in the explosion had increased to 45. Three people were pulled out of the rubble and are in serious condition.

In addition, 20 high-rise buildings and 4 social institutions were damaged. Citing data from the local newspaper Vpered, it is noted that 15 people were hospitalized in the trauma department with shrapnel wounds, and five more victims were hospitalized in intensive care with 100% burns. 

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a case of violation of industrial safety requirements.

According to local authorities, the number of victims has risen to 35, four of whom are in serious condition, RIA Novosti reports.

Prior to that, the Russian propaganda source RIA Novosti reported that, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov, 31 people were injured in the explosion. 19 people were hospitalized, including 3 who were seriously injured.

"The rubble is being cleared at the site, evacuations have been carried out from all the buildings of the plant itself, as well as from the nearest kindergarten," the statement said. 

Russian TV channel Baza reported that the number of victims had increased to 25. Almost all of them suffered shrapnel and blast injuries.

The Russian propaganda news agency TASS indicates that the explosion occurred in a hangar with pyrotechnics at the Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant. The warehouse covering an area of 1.6 thousand square meters was destroyed.

According to medical reports, 16 people were injured

“A powerful explosion in the Moscow region at the Zagorsk Optical and Mechanical Plant in Sergiev Posad. The plant produces surveillance equipment, medical equipment, laboratory instruments, dosimetric equipment, and safety equipment.”

The explosion was reported by the Russian propaganda media outlet RIA Novosti, citing information from emergency services. 

"An explosion occurred at an optical-mechanical plant in Sergiyev Posad near Moscow, information about the victims is being clarified," the report said.

It is noted that after the explosion, a "total evacuation" was announced at the plant, and security forces and local authorities, including Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov, arrived at the scene.
