Mark Milley calls Ukraine's Kherson offensive "carefully thought-out and effective"
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive on Kherson is a "carefully thought-out operation" with effective use of firepower.
General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Headquarters of the United States, made the comments at a briefing after the 5th Rammstein meeting.
According to him, Ukraine is using its firepower effectively in its ground maneuver, continuing the offensive. At the same time, he noted that it is still too early to fully assess Ukraine's offensive.
He said that the Ukrainian Defense Forces' advance in the Kherson region was "permanent and deliberate."
"I would characterize this as a carefully thought-out offensive operation aimed at establishing conditions and then capturing their targets," Milley said.
Milley also denied that the Ukrainian army is overstretched, fighting Russia from Kharkiv in the north to Kherson in the south.
"They're going to keep fighting. They've got the strength to do it and we'll see how it goes," Milley said.
CIA Director William Burns believes that Russia will pay a "high price" for the war in Ukraine.
