French President Emmanuel Macron said he did not consider it possible to consider Ukraine's application for EU membership in a war

This was reported by the BFMTV website.

He said that he was against the start of the procedure for Ukraine's accession to the EU before the start of the informal leaders' summit in Paris.

"Can we open an accession procedure with a country that is at war? I don't believe in that", Macron said.

He added that he wanted to send a "strong signal" as three countries applied for membership.
