Lviv paratroopers neutralize about 50 Russian 'elite' regiment soldiers in 14-hour-long battle
The 80th separate assault brigade soldiers have neutralized about 50 Russian 'elite' regiment soldiers. The battle lasted about 14 hours. Russia wanted to cut one strategically important route in eastern Ukraine.
Lviv regional military administration head shared the update, Espreso.West reported.
"This happened during a battle that lasted about 14 hours. Then Russia wanted to cut one strategically important route in eastern Ukraine. But the paratroopers of the 80th separate assault brigade did not allow the offensive to develop. Ukrainian soldiers set fire to the Russian BMD with the NLAW grenade launcher, neutralizing about 50 units of personnel of the 104th so-called 'Guards' airborne assault regiment of the 76th airborne assault Pskov division," the head said.
When Russian forces met in close contact with Ukrainian paratroopers, they retreated. And they left the bodies of their dead soldiers in the woods.
"It was a difficult battle in which Ukrainian fighters once again showed their courage and loyalty. Senior Lieutenant Oleksandr Chavdar and Senior Soldier Oleh Dubych received shrapnel wounds, but refused to be evacuated to a medical facility and continued firing until Russian forces retreated," he added.
On that day the artillery units of the 80th brigade launched a massive artillery strike, as a result of which the Russian ranks and their equipment were thinned.
Later, the 80th brigade added that this battle, near the B. town, began on the second night, when a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group approached the positions of the paratroopers.
"Our guys noticed saboteurs and fire from automatic small arms, forcing them to retreat. But Russian forces did not calm down and a little later, their infantry, reinforced by armored vehicles, went on the attack. Here Lviv paratroopers arranged a 'warm meeting' for them," the message read.
