"Lukashenko is not so simple": NSDC Secretary assesses likelihood of Belarus' direct intervention in war
Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Oleksiy Danilov considers it unlikely that Belarus will directly intervene in the war against Ukraine, despite persistent persuasion from the Russian leadership
Danilov expressed his opinion in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Lukashenko became president in 1994 after serving as head of a state farm. He has never left that position for a single day. You should not assume that he is so simple. He is a multifaceted person. And despite the fact that Putin constantly wants to conditionally "rape" him so that he makes certain decisions that Russia needs, Lukashenko understands how this can end. That's why I don't think Putin will be able to convince him. I don't even know what needs to happen for Putin to succeed," the NSDC Secretary said.
According to him, ordinary Belarusians also have no desire to fight against Ukraine.
