"LPR" leader Pasichnyk to be tried in Ukraine
Prosecutors in the Luhansk region have sent to court an indictment against the leader of the "Luhansk People's Republic" Leonid Pasichnyk. He will be tried for a number of crimes against Ukraine's national security
The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office reported the information.
Pasichnyk is charged with willful actions committed to change the territorial boundaries or national borders of Ukraine, public calls for their commission by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, as well as participation in the organization and holding of an illegal referendum in the temporarily occupied territory (Part 2 of Article 110, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
In 2018, following the pseudo-elections, the suspect assumed leadership of the self-declared republic. On September 20, 2022, he signed the fabricated law titled "On the Referendum of the LPR on the Issue of Accession to the Russian Federation as a Subject of the Russian Federation." This law served as the foundation for an illegitimate expression of will within the temporarily occupied areas. Subsequently, Pasichnyk appealed to Russian President Putin to accept the LPR into Russia.
"On September 30, 2022, the so-called head of the “LPR,” during a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, signed an illegal agreement on the "accession" of the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region to Russia, thereby violating the territorial integrity of Ukraine within the borders defined by the Constitution of Ukraine," the Prosecutor General's Office reminded.
They also noted that the suspect continues to make propaganda statements and cooperate with Russian occupying forces.
