A drone that entered Lithuanian airspace from Belarus earlier this week was found on August 1 at a military training ground near the town of Jonava. Preliminary data suggests the UAV resembles the Russian Geran, a mock version of Iran’s Shahed drone designed to deceive air defense systems

LRT reported this information.

“We confirm that the drone has been found. More information will be provided shortly,” said Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovilė Šakalienė, adding that the UAV had crossed the border from Belarus.

Lithuanian military officials said the drone resembles the Russian-made Geran, a decoy designed to mimic Iranian-made Shahed drones and mislead air defense systems.

“Details are still being clarified, as the aircraft was located using another drone during the search. It will be checked for potential danger, after which the same procedures will be followed as with the first Geran found in early July,” the Lithuanian military added.

  • On Monday morning, July 28, an unidentified drone, believed to have entered from Belarus, breached Lithuanian airspace and was spotted near the capital, Vilnius.
