This was reported by the press service of the Lithuanian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"The implementation of a bilateral intergovernmental agreement with Belarus is impossible in the current geopolitical situation and will not be possible in the near future," said Interior Minister Agnė Bilotaitė.
The Lithuanian government made such a decision in view of the political situation in Belarus since 2020, namely, Lukashenko's fraudulent elections, his regime's opposition to the EU, and the country's involvement in the war with Ukraine.
Lithuania suspended payments to Belarus and its partners under current projects of the cross-border cooperation program in October 2020.
Also, with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs Bilotaitė, cooperation with Belarusian institutions and organizations was suspended.
On January 13, Poland and Lithuania urged the European Union to impose restrictions on Russia's nuclear sector as part of new sanctions against Moscow and Minsk over the war in Ukraine.
