Leaked Pentagon documents: Ukraine may get SAMP/T air defense system later than promised
Ukraine may receive the Italian-French SAMP/T anti-aircraft missile system later than expected. The system is not yet ready for delivery
The information is evidenced by leaked Pentagon documents, Politico reports.
"Another leaked page recounts that France told Italy on February 22 that a joint missile system would not be ready for Ukraine until June," the outlet notes.
SAMP/T is a digitized anti-aircraft missile system that requires only 14 people per fire unit with 4 launchers. For comparison, the US Patriot system has 90 personnel per standard fire unit. Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine can theoretically master SAMP/T faster than Patriot, and it may be easier to operate.
The range of destruction of aircraft is 100+ km, and ballistic missiles - up to 30-35 km. The height of target destruction is up to 20 km. The weight of an anti-aircraft missile warhead is 15 to 20 kg.
According to experts, such systems on the battlefield will be a great advantage for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
