Lavrov says negotiations with Zelenskyy and his peace plan "are out of question." Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reacts

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his plan for peaceful settlement of Russian Federation's war in Ukraine "are out of question."

Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov stated this during final press conference.

"Zelenskyy is putting forward some absolutely ridiculous initiatives, a 10-point plan that includes everything possible: food security, energy security, biological security, withdrawal of Russian troops from everywhere, repentance of Russian Federation, tribunal, condemnation, and so on. Negotiations with Zelenskyy based on his initiatives are out of question," Lavrov said.

Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that there can be no talk of negotiations with the President of Ukraine - if only because Zelenskyy "legislatively forbids negotiations with the Russian government."

Lavrov also said that Russia is ready to consider any serious proposals from the West regarding war in Ukraine, but "there were none."

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted and emphasized that Moscow is categorically not interested in peace.

"Public maneuvers by representatives of the Russian regime about readiness for negotiations, "ceasefire for Christmas", and waiting for "real" proposals from the West are just a smokescreen for preparation for another Russian terrorist attack on Ukraine," spokesman of Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oleg Nikolenko wrote.

Spokesman emphasized that our partners have not responded to what is being said in the Russian Foreign Ministry for a long time. This is also evident from international support for President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula.

"This is a comprehensive document of ten points, implementation of which will help to restore peace on Ukrainian soil and create safeguards for non-repetition of Russian aggression in the future. Whether someone in the Kremlin likes it or not, Russia will have to follow the peace formula. To speed up arrival of this moment, team of Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Dmytro Kuleba, will continue to work on providing defense forces of Ukraine with all necessary international assistance: tanks, anti-missile and anti-aircraft defense systems, long-range missiles, ammunition, training of our defenders, and finances," Nikolenko added.
