Latest Russian fake news on Azov Regiment and Zaporizhzhia shelling
Russia has been spreading disinformation about alleged crimes committed by members of the Azov Regiment. Other manufactured stories concern Kyiv's supposed dependence on American weapons and the suggestion that the Ukrainian army has been shelling the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP).
The Center for Countering Disinformation at the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council informs about this in a telegram.
Russia continues to call "Azov" Nazis and equate Ukrainian defenders with Nazis.
"The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Krasnov stated: "the crimes of Azov" can be compared in terms of their cruelty with the actions of the Nazis in World War II..., since the facts of the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare by members of Azov have been established, therefore Azov is a nationalist formation," the center cites Russian hostile manipulations.
In addition, the pro-Russian intelligence officer from the US Scott Ritter assures that Kyiv is very dependent on the supply of American weapons, and the fear of being cut off from US support will force Zelenskyy not to make "dangerous" decisions: "Everything can be stopped today if President Biden picks up the phone and calls Zelenskyy".
Russia does not stop telling that Ukrainian soldiers are shelling the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
"Representatives of the Russian Embassy in the United States stated that the attacks on the Zaporizhzhia NPP by the Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine are deliberate, and in order to discredit the Russian Federation, the Ukrainian authorities stop at nothing, creating a real threat to the nuclear security not only of Ukraine, but also of Europe," Russian media spread this manipulation.
