Land, buildings, corporate rights, finances: Ukraine confiscates over 900 Russian assets

This was stated by the press service of the government, Espreso.TV reports. 

"Today, we have on the agenda a systemically important decision on the confiscation of Russian property and assets in Ukraine. The list of objects has been formed. These are hundreds of buildings, corporate rights, land plots, as well as financial assets", Shmyhal said.

Objects of confiscation were divided into three categories.

"The first category is property that belongs to the Russian state. The second category is assets that belong to sanctioned Russian citizens and companies. The third category is the assets of Russian banks. Today the government will approve a presidential decree proposing the confiscation of 903 objects that  belong to the Russian state. 79 items are corporate rights, and 824 items are property", Shmyhal said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the confiscation is taking place in a legal manner. He predicted further confiscation of Russian assets abroad as well. 

"We do this systematically and in accordance with all procedures. We do not replace the law with our wishes, but implement this strategic task in a legal way. Confiscated assets are converted into funds that will be directed to our defense and recovery. Today's step is the first in our strategy. The next big step should be the confiscation of Russian assets in the West for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Both the government and the President's Office are working on this with teams of the best lawyers and teams of international experts, our partners, and allies", Shmyhal said.
