This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmytro Kuleba.
"The unified power supply line of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and all its nuclear facilities controlled by the Russian army has been damaged. The Chernobyl power plant has been de-energized", he wrote on Twitter.
The minister called on the international community to immediately demand a ceasefire from Russia and allow repair teams to resume power supply as soon as possible.
"Backup diesel generators will provide power to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and its facilities for 48 hours. Then the spent nuclear fuel storage cooling system will turn off, which will threaten radiation leakage", Kuleba warned.
