Kolomyia Brigade fighter killed defending Ukraine in Donetsk region
Serhii Matyshchak, a soldier serving with the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade's 109th Battalion, has been killed in action defending Ukraine in the Donetsk region. He was 38 years old.
This was reported by Suspilne, Espreso.West reports.
The military man was born in the village of Yablunka of the Solotvyno territorial community. He fought in the 109th battalion of the 10th Kolomyia Brigade. He died near Bakhmut.
Serhii Matyshchak was a member of the Ukraine's Anti-Terrorist Operation Zone. In 2014, he went to defend Ukraine as a volunteer. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he was also on the front lines.
According to Iryna Suslyk, head of the culture department of the Solotvyno community, the man was an ardent patriot and did not imagine his life outside of Ukraine.
"The last time he came home, somewhere in May-June, he said the following words: 'I would like to die on the battlefield for our Ukraine'. As if he knew", Iryna Suslyk said.
