It is noted that the average daily number of Russian casualties (killed and wounded) in Ukraine in March 2024 decreased by 74 people per day to 913.
The intelligence believes that the decrease in losses corresponds to a smaller number of registered attacks over the past month.
“The reduction in Russian offensive operations highly likely reflects a series of factors: a period of rest and refit following the capture of Avdiivka, and intent to reduce death notifications during the Russian election,” the statement says.
At the beginning of the invasion, Russian troops were losing an average of 658 people a day. In 2023, this figure rose to 693, and in the first quarter of 2024 - to 913.
UK intelligence suggests that this growth indicates Russia's dependence on massive losses to maintain pressure on Ukrainian positions at the front.
