Kherson’s townspeople greet train conductors as heroes, Ukrzaliznytsia employee
Iryna Yurchenko, mother of Azovstal defender Dmytro Kozatskyi, an employee of Ukrzaliznytsia, noted that for the townspeople they were the people who connected Ukraine with Kherson
She shared the story on Espreso TV.
Iryna Yurchenko, an employee of Ukrzaliznytsia, a national freight and passenger operator, arrived in Kherson on the first passenger train since the start of the full-scale invasion, which left Kyiv on November 18.
"We recently opened a route to Kherson. There has been no railway connection with the city since February 24. We went to the liberated city with pleasure and patriotic inspiration. When I entered Kherson and saw how people met the train and cried with joy, I felt the strength and power of our country. I was filled to tears with pride for my country, patriotism and unity of Ukrainians.
We were greeted as heroes, it didn't matter whether you were the head of Ukrzaliznytsia or an ordinary conductor. We hugged people and they even gifted me, a simple conductor, flowers, because for the townspeople we were the people who opened this way and connected Ukraine with Kherson," commented the employee of Ukrzaliznytsia.
