Josep Borrell calls Russian missile strikes “barbaric war crimes” and urges to punish those responsible
The head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrell said the massive Russian missile strikes across Ukraine were an attempt to deprive civilians, doctors and emergency services of water, electricity and heating
The statement is reported by the EU website.
"Today’s massive missile attacks by Russia across Ukraine, in addition to the ongoing daily shelling of civilians and civilian infrastructure, are yet another example of the Kremlin’s indiscriminate terror. These cruel, inhumane attacks aim to increase human suffering and deprive the Ukrainian people, but also hospitals, emergency services and other critical services of electricity, heating and water. These bombings constitute war crimes and are barbaric. All those responsible shall be held accountable," Borrell stressed.
The head of European diplomacy also promised that the EU would intensify efforts to support Ukraine.
"The EU and its partners are further intensifying efforts to provide the emergency support the Ukrainian people need to restore and maintain power and heating. The Ukrainian people are demonstrating admirable strength, courage, and resilience withstanding Russia's war of aggression. The European Union stands with them in firm solidarity. As long as needed and to the extent needed," Borrell concluded.
