Johnson appeals to Biden over F-16s for Ukraine
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson calls on US President Joe Biden to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets
CNN reports.
Johnson expressed his belief that Biden should provide Ukraine with F-16s and called on Britain to do the same. In his opinion, if the planes had been sent a year ago, "we would have been much further" in ending the war.
"If it's going to be sooner or later — if that's the choice— then let's give them what they need sooner because that is the humane, the compassionate thing," he said. "Finish this war as quickly as possible, minimize the bloodshed, minimize the suffering, minimize the expense," Johnson urged.
He also praised Biden for his visit to Ukraine on the eve of the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion.
"It was exactly the right thing for the president to do. I applaud him and I thought his speech was excellent," Johnson said.
