Japan will help Ukraine to restore energy infrastructure
Herman Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, held a meeting with Matsuda Kuninori, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine - they talked about restoring energy infrastructure.
The press service of the Ministry of Energy writes on Facebook.
The minister informed the ambassador about the systematic attacks conducted by Russian troops on the objects of Ukrainian energy infrastructure and the consequences of the destruction.
"Today, Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is de-energized again and is running on diesel generators. This happened due to the substation’s damage, from which the only line connecting ZNPP with the Ukrainian power system was supplied," Herman Galushchenko said.
The Minister emphasized that ZNPP is very important for the energy security of Ukraine and emphasized the need for its de-occupation, demilitarization, and transfer to the full control of a legitimate Ukrainian operator.
The parties also discussed areas of cooperation for assistance in providing Ukraine with energy carriers during the heating season.
Special attention was paid at the meeting to the readiness of the Japanese side to help with the restoration of Ukrainian critical infrastructure objects damaged or destroyed by hostilities, in particular, by providing the necessary equipment and facilities. Relevant energy projects will be implemented in cooperation with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
