Japan announces additional sanctions against Russia, including a ban on gold imports

Additional sanctions announced by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida include a ban on Russian gold imports and the provision of accounting, trust and some other services to Russia.

According to Kishida, these sanctions will also ban the sale of goods to 90 defense-related organizations and freeze the assets of another 70 individuals and organizations.

Referring to the situation in Ukraine, the Prime Minister of Japan noted that the world is now at the crossroads of history. The question is whether the world will be able to maintain an international order based on rules. Kishida also stressed that Japan rejects a world which allows any unilateral change of the status quo by force.
